For Workers

How to Get Started

SVEP offers full and partial scholarships for green training and certification to qualified and eligible individuals. If you are interested in participating in this program, it's important to make sure that you qualify, that you are willing and able to participate, and that you know which program is best for you.

Here's how to begin:

It's important to complete each step to see if SVEP's Green Jobs Program is for you.

1. Review the SVEP Eligibility and Guidelines to gain an understanding of the basic requirements to participate. If you believe you meet these requirements, continue to step two.

2. Review the list of SVEP Education and Training Programs. This is a complete overview of program offerings and may help you determine an area of interest. It is also a starting point for developing your training plan of action.

3. Review the participant application packet, which includes the following documents:

  • Participant Application
  • Participant Verification of Eligibility for Scholarships Funds chart
  • Equal Opportunity (EO) Rights of Notification

If you are not willing to complete forms and supply proper documentation, this program may not be right for you.

4. Contact the SVEP Participant Employment Specialist closest to your location. Connect to the staff link for contact information by location. Schedule a preliminary phone meeting or an in-person meeting.

5. Work with the Participant Employment Specialist to complete the required Participant Application, sign the release of information statement, provide three proof of eligibility documents and sign the Equal Opportunity form. You will also discuss your training plan of action in preparation for development of an Individual Training Plan.

6. The Participant Employment Specialist will let you know if you are accepted into the program. If the SVEP initiative is not a good fit, a referral may be made to other programs.

7. The process will then continue with the Participant Employment Specialist, with your input, creating an Individual Training plan. You will need to work with the program contact to confirm program prerequisites and register for classes. More Information can be found in the Training Providers section.
